SALES AND MARKETING MEETING At the GENPA Sales & Marketing Meeting held on January 7-10, 2010 at Legend Hotel, the year 2010 was evaluted. GENPA's CEO Dr. Zeynel Abidin Erdem, Vice President M. Fatih Erdem, Board Member Gökhan Erdem, General Manager Fahri Tugay and the deputy directors, department managers, regional managers, regional sales teams and customer representatives participated in the two-day meeting where Turkcell’s General Manager Süreyya Ciliv and Nokia’s General Manager Conor Pierce made speeches.
The GENPA Sales & Marketing Meeting, during which the year 2009 was evaluated and the strategies for 2010 were discussed, was held between January 7-10, 2010 at the Legend Hotel.

Among other participants were also Turkcell’s General Manager Süreyya Ciliv, Deputy General Manager for Individual Sales Hulusi Acar, Department Manager of Wholesale and Distributor Management Suat Topçu, Unit Manager of Distributor Management Ender Tunç, Distributor Relations Manager Taner Çoker, Nokia Turkey’s General Manager Conor Pierce, Sales Manager Bahadır Kayıcan, Services and Solutions Manager Salih Özkan and After-Sale Services Manager Sinan Saraç.
“Nokia is the most popular brand in Turkey”
Nokia’s General Manager Conor Pierce made an evaluation of the sector and shared the projections concerning the year 2010 with the participants. Nokia’s General Manager Conor Pierce olmalı pointed out that the relationship between manufacturers and consumers was changing and that the previously unilateral relationships were now bilateral and developing according to the demands of the consumers. Pierce emphasized that Nokia had been voted as the most popular brand in Turkey and that, comparing the leading brands in the same categories, the brand with the highest remembrance percentage. He also presented information about the Turkish market, Nokia’s market share, Ovi services and its sub categories. Pierce, who stated that Ovi Services were a golden window of opportunity, talked about Nokia’s messaging approach and the mobility and e-mail solutions. He also talked about the growth of the smartphone market and Nokia's share in it, stating that touchscreens and smart phones were the products to be focused on in 2010 and that the company was aiming to position itself in the market with devices able to expand e-mail solutions to a larger base. Pierce emphasized that Nokia was the among the leading players of the digital music sector and that in 2010 they were going to continue to launch campaigns for young consumers and music fans.
Sixfold growth in post-3G mobile internet volume
In his presentation titled “General Review of 2010 and Life with Turkcell”, Turkcell’s General Manager Süreyya Ciliv evaluated the Gross National Product (GNP) growth numbers of the last three years. “New technologies are creating new opportunuities. 2010 will be the year of mobile internet” said Ciliv, who also stated that since the day the company was established it provided employment to 50 thousand people with a total investment of TL 14,2 billion. Ciliv also drew attention to the 3G Mobile Internet momentum, saying that the number of 3G users would surpass the one billion global threshold. Ciliv stated that, concerning the service of Internet for all with Mobile Broadband, the global average growth rate of the total broadband users was 52 percent and explained with a chart how smart devices were preferred in the market. Ciliv’s presentation titled “Life with Turkcell” infomed the participants about 3G’s importance in our lives, telemetry applications, location-based services, mobile internet, mobile TV, mobile signature, Internet from everywhere, health, mobile payment, education, video calls, security and mobile office services. “In the last decade Internet volume showed a thirteenfold growth and there is a sixfold growth in the post-3G mobile internet volume” said Ciliv.
The meeting included also presentations by Cengiz Yorgancıoğlu from GFK Turkey about the Turkish GSM market and consumer trends, by Dr. Yılmaz Argüden about his book titled “Shaping the Future” and by Prof. Dr. Şükrü Kızılot about tax regulations and life.
