Meizu comes to Turkey with Genpa partnership
Founded by Jack Wong in 2003, becoming one of the five major phone manufacturers in China and recently starting to operate in more than 30 countries in Europe and the World, Meizu has matured its plan about Turkey and appointed Murat Sungur Özkan, one of the industry's experienced names, as the country director of Turkey. As a fresh director, Özkan, made his first strategic move by signing a distribution agreement with Genpa, the leader brand which he has successfully carried for years in the sector.
Director Özkan said, "I have been in the China, the heart of the world’s technology market, many times on behalf of the companies I worked for and have always been interested in Meizu brand. The large number of people’s interest and loyalty to the brand took my attention.
Now, as Meizu's Country Manager, my aim is to create and achieve the same interest and loyalty in Turkey. Our priority is to create a network of sales and technical service operations which are consumer-wise, just like the design of our smartphones.
At this point, we aim to enter the Turkish market assertively, combining the experience and success we have achieved in over 30 countries with the trust to Genpa, a respected and strong business partner in Turkey. Our modern, innovative design understanding and high technology support our ideal".
M. Fatih Erdem, CEO of Genpa, pointed out that: "We are pleased that Meizu, which is known for its R & D strength and innovation in many countries, is entering the Turkish market with Genpa. As Genpa, we believe that with the experience and extensive service network, Meizu will achieve success in Turkey as it has achieved in the Global Market" in his statement on behalf of Genpa.
Meizu, took $ 590 million as an investment from the e-commerce giant Alibaba in 2015 and managed to reach 20 million smartphone sales in the same year. Meizu smartphones, which will be sold throughout Turkey in November, will benefit from Genpa's extensive distribution and technical support network.
